ABOUT US
Young artists are faced with an extremely tight audition market, which results in many of them auditioning year after year, leaving them discouraged. Often when emerging artists are given opportunities to dance professionally, many wait years to be challenged and properly showcase their talent. Similarly, emerging choreographers are very rarely given the chance to set their choreography on dancers or see their work in performance. The NYC Emerging Artists Project allows young artists to experience company life in an encouraging environment. The project provides an opportunity to create and collaborate on new work through a two-week residency culminating in a performance.

INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS
The NYC Emerging Artists Project has a referral program in which formerly participating artists refer others whom they believe could really benefit from this experience. That being said, we do keep a running list of artists who reach out expressing interest so that we are able to give as many artists an opportunity as possible. Working with the NYC Emerging Artists Project is a paid, professional opportunity.
At the end of the project, I was left with so many new ideas that I'm excited to explore and a great sense of accomplishment & joy at what was created in community & in performance.-Anaka Weiss-jones (2024 dancer)
